OoC: You have a mail hauberk, but it is old and rusty.
IC: "A big axe, aye, that I can do ye for 10. But the hauberk is 40 (30 if you give me yer old one), and it will take me a week to alter one to fit a feller like you. I'll throw in the helmet for 8, that's 58 crowns, and I'll tmeper your sword for ye. I am the one being generous now."

"Then we'll call it 48 with the hauberk. I shall remain here whilst you do your fine work."
Ælfric now determines to find a party willing to hire him so that he might recoup some of his money and start his journey.

He also enquires around the local game hunters and stalls as to who might have some impressive looking horns to place on his helmet.

You can get a matched pair of drinking horns from an alehouse for 2 crowns, a further crown to fix em to the helmet. The armourer offers 4 crowns for your old one if you don't want it anymore.
They don't do fancy arrows in Harborough, you can get 15 for a crown.

The only people recruiting are a few small longships, one sailing for Ottshaven, the other for welmouth. They offer bread and board for a hand on the journey.

Slightly disappointed, but still in high spirits Ælfric passes on the sea voyage (not wanting to risk his large horse on a ship). He gathers his new equipment and food and takes off for Offenburg. He keeps to the normal trade roads and tries to spend his nights in small settlements of farmsteads where he willingly pays the going rates for a bed, fodder and water for the horse and any new food stuffs he might require.

OoC: As you may have seen, through trial and error I have determined some vague prices for goods. Tomorrow, time allowing, I shall take a look at what you were charged and make some adjustments, to keep everything fair and in line.

After rebalancing the costs (as you may see in the rumour mill) I'm afraid a bow of that size and quality will actually be rather more expensive. I'm afraid an axe of the quality required will be 10 crowns more, and the bow will cost between 20 and 30 (depending on the quality requested).

OOC: Fair enough, I shall forgo the bow and arrows then and settle for the large axe. Could I possibly get a pair of smaller axes for throwing instead?

It shall be done. A couple of small cheapy axes will cost you 10 crowns.
